Celebrating Today
I think I sometimes forget that there are people who would like to see more of the process. I have been so busy with Mother's Day, graduation and bridal orders that I forget to post here.
This is a little peek at my working station. The box at the top left contains lots of blanks sorted by size. There are two sets of stamps here in a block that allows me to grab them easily. My little hammer and the one pound mallet are beside the metal stamping block. It sits on a piece of material that deadens the sound as I hammer. There are some pliers, a hole punch and the pen and pencil I use to make order notes. The Sharpie is used to make marks on the blank to allow me to center the stamping on certain designs. You can see some blanks that have been stamped above the pencil. They are waiting for an acid wash to darken the letters. I then neutralize and polish them. They go thru a tumbler for hours and are then placed on chains and packaged. It is a longer process than people might think!
I just took this photo as I was working, so this is pretty typical. Because I am a little OCD, I clear it all up when I am done with a batch and then this happens all over again!
I hope you like taking a little look at how the necklaces are made!
